The Zilico team supporting Gynae Month – a month long campaign organised by The Eve Appeal charity.
A Manchester cervical cancer diagnostic company, is helping to raise awareness of the five gynaecological cancers – womb, ovarian, cervical, vaginal and vulval – in support of Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month.
Throughout September, Zilico, who are based on the Manchester Science Park, is supporting the UK campaign run by The Eve Appeal, to help more people become aware of the early signs and symptoms.
The company has spoken to clinicians, patients and partners to talk about their experiences and will be highlighting these stories on social media throughout the month.
In the UK alone each year, there are over 21,000 women who are given the news that they have a form of gynaecological cancer. This equates to 58 women being diagnosed daily. Of those diagnosed, sadly 21 women every day will lose their battle.
UK charity, The Eve Appeal is determined to change this and part of their mission is to ensure that both women and men are aware of what to look out for. The Eve Appeal report that there is a lack of basic knowledge about the female body, as well as conversations around how the female anatomy works.
Gynae Month aims to help educate women about their body and let them know what to look out for in terms of unexpected changes in their vagina or vulva, as well as being aware of the signs and symptoms of a gynaecological cancer.
Sameer Kothari, CEO of Zilico said: “I admire the work of The Eve Appeal as it helps raise awareness of gynae cancers. Too many women are diagnosed with gynae cancers each year so it’s important that both women and men know what to look out for.”
Zilico’s product portfolio is centred on its patented Electrical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) technology, applicable to a wide range of neoplastic conditions. The company prides itself on creating innovative technology that removes subjectivity, increases accuracy and delivers results in real-time.
Zilico’s head office is located in Manchester, UK.Manufacturing and R&D functions are also carried out in the UK and Zilico achieved ISO 13485 accreditation in 2013 with their flagship device, ZedScan I.
