Medical diagnostic company Diagnostic Healthcare Ltd has merged with ultrasound services provider Excell Ultrasound.

Manchester-based Diagnostic said the deal, announced today (March 29), will expand its geographical footprint.

Excell Ultrasound is headquartered in Peterborough and provides its services across the East Midlands and East of England.

Diagnostic Healthcare, which operates a network of centres and mobile units, offers MRI scans, ultrasounds, bone density tests and health screening, working closely with the NHS and private healthcare providers.

Liat Karni, managing director at Diagnostic Healthcare, said of the deal: “Diagnostic Healthcare has a track record of providing ultrasound service successfully in many Clinical Commissioning Groups and NHS Trusts.

“We believe that with more impact by leveraging Diagnostic Healthcare’s scale and resources the companies will greatly expand and enhance the ultrasound services which will bring significant benefits to customers in new areas.“

Excell Ultrasound Limited’s sales and marketing director, Teresa Simms, commented: “We are delighted to merge with Diagnostic Healthcare as there is a huge synergy between our companies and we believe that together we can offer enhanced diagnostic services in key areas of the UK.

“We feel we have a strong future ahead of us as we look to expand into new geographical areas and offer customers a larger portfolio of diagnostic services.“

Diagnostic Healthcare was backed in 2013 by The North West Fund for Biomedical, using the investment to take on new employees and expand its business.

The North West Fund, financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the European Investment Bank, is now fully invested.
